Canon has entered serious competition in the mirrorless camera market. The company has introduced its new product, a full-frame mirrorless camera named the 'R' series. After 30 years, the company has also introduced a new mount for its new lenses and mirrorless cameras, called the RF series. This move is considered a significant and striking action by the company and could gradually bring an end to the era of DSLR cameras in the world of photography, especially since Nikon, another major camera manufacturer, had recently taken similar action. Sony transformed the market by producing high-quality full-frame mirrorless cameras, and successfully led Nikon and now Canon to adopt this new type of camera. This camera features a 30-megapixel full-frame sensor. The company claims that the shorter distance from the sensor to the mount edge allows for better light reception at the frame's edges. This camera has 5,655 autofocus points, significantly higher than its competitors. For example, Nikon's new full-frame camera, the Z7, has 493 autofocus points. This capability allows for much faster and more accurate focusing. The product has a maximum shutter speed of 1/8000 seconds and, using an electronic shutter, allows for silent photography. This camera can shoot at a speed of eight frames per second. Unlike its competitors, the display of this camera can rotate in various directions. Canon has incorporated a touch section on the right side of the viewfinder, allowing photographers to change camera settings such as shutter speed, sensitivity, and white balance. In terms of video recording, this camera can shoot in 4K at a bitrate of 480 megabits per second at 30 frames per second. Although the video quality of this camera is suitable compared to its full-frame competitors, the lack of 60 frames per second recording capability compared to the Panasonic GH5 is considered a drawback. Additionally, the color accuracy is eight-bit, which is weaker than the ten-bit quality of the Panasonic GH5, which is among the best cameras for video recording. What makes the Canon R series camera revolutionary is the new RF mount. The diameter of this mount is 54 millimeters and has 12 electrical connections with the lens. This high number of connections improves the communication between the lens and the camera, allowing for faster and more accurate performance. Canon claims this interface is the fastest available in the photography world and allows photographers to use prime and zoom lenses with fixed and wider apertures. Furthermore, the shorter distance from the sensor to the lens enables manufacturers to produce lenses with fewer components and elements, reducing production costs. This new mount allows photographers to use all lenses that Canon has produced from the beginning until now on their cameras. The company has introduced four new lenses for this new mount: standard 28-70mm with f/2, 24-105mm with f/4, 50mm with f/1.2, and 35mm macro with f/1.8. Alongside the introduction of the RF family lenses, Canon has also introduced three adapters for using its other lenses on this camera. With these products, it is possible to use EF series lenses on Canon's mirrorless camera, while still benefiting from the autofocus mode without losing quality. The price of this Canon product is $2,299, which is over a thousand dollars cheaper than Canon's DSLR models like the 5D. This camera is also about 250 grams lighter and smaller than the Canon 5D.
