Appreciation for the Islamic Republic's Assistance; Leader of 'Islamic Jihad of Palestine' Promises Victory Over Israel

The leader of the group known as 'Islamic Jihad of Palestine,' supported by the Islamic Republic, promised victory over Israel in the Gaza war during a meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister in Tehran on Saturday, April 1. According to the state news agency 'IRNA,' Ziad al-Nakhala told reporters that he guarantees Israel will be defeated in the war and thanked Tehran for its 'support.' Associated Press reported that Iran has not directly intervened in the Israel-Hamas war but provides financial and political support to its two proxy groups, Islamic Jihad and Hamas, following the October 15 attack on Israel that resulted in over 1,200 deaths and 253 hostages. Israel has previously accused the Islamic Republic of military support as well. AP noted that Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas, met with Ziad al-Nakhala in Tehran and held separate talks with Iranian officials over the past few days. Islamic Jihad and Hamas are listed as terrorist organizations by the U.S. and several countries worldwide. The traffic of terrorist group leaders in Tehran coincides with the presence of Israeli and Hamas representatives in negotiations mediated by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar for the release of hostages still held by Hamas. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed on Friday to negotiations for the release of hostages in Egypt and Qatar, attended by the heads of Shin Bet (Israel's internal security service) and Mossad (Israel's foreign intelligence service). In a statement, the Israeli Prime Minister mentioned that he discussed hostage negotiations with David Barnea, head of Mossad, and Ronen Bar, head of Shin Bet, and allowed their representatives to travel to Doha and Cairo in the coming days. The head of Shin Bet is set to travel to Cairo, and the head of Mossad to Qatar. The Hamas leader in Tehran blamed Israel for the lack of results in the negotiations so far. Hamas demands a complete ceasefire, withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and the release of Palestinian prisoners in Israel. Hamas, which seeks Israel's destruction, is waiting for an opportunity to repeat the October 15 attack on Israel. Therefore, it had rejected the latest proposal for the release of hostages. According to Israeli television network 'Channel 12,' the latest proposal rejected by Hamas included Israel agreeing to release 800 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for 40 hostages who are women, children, sick, and elderly in the first phase of a six-week ceasefire. Mr. Netanyahu described Hamas's demands as 'delusional.' Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, said on April 8 regarding the negotiations: 'Some remaining issues that need to be resolved are among the most difficult issues regarding the topics that have the most disagreement between Israel and Hamas.
