Armed Suspect Arrested Near Trump Campaign Rally in California

California police reported on Sunday the arrest of an armed man near the location of a campaign rally for Donald Trump, the Republican nominee in the upcoming U.S. presidential election. According to Reuters, citing a senior police official from Riverside County, the suspect, identified as 49-year-old "Wem Miller" from Las Vegas, was arrested on Saturday. He faces charges of possessing loaded firearms and was found with several passports and a fake vehicle registration at the time of his arrest. He has since been released on bail. Federal investigations into the matter have begun. However, Chad Bianco, the Riverside police chief, stated that he believes the police have thwarted an "assassination attempt" with Miller's arrest. Donald Trump, the former president and Republican nominee for the November 5 election, was targeted in an assassination attempt last July, resulting in an injury to his ear. In September, Secret Service agents arrested an individual near Trump's golf club in Florida, which could potentially be the second assassination attempt against him during the 2024 election campaign. Reuters' report on Iranian government plots for assassination and kidnapping in the West through "contract terrorists" accused three members of the IRGC of a cyber plot against Trump's campaign.
