Arrest of 50 Individuals Linked to Terrorist Groups in Kermanshah

The prosecutor of Kermanshah announced on Sunday, June 24, the arrest of over 50 individuals identified as "elements linked to and supporting terrorist groups" in the province following the attacks on June 7 in Tehran. According to the state news agency IRNA, Nemat Sadighi stated that significant quantities of explosive belts, electronic detonators, and weapons were discovered and confiscated from the detainees. This judicial official announced that there has been a serious crackdown on the "backers, elements, teams, and supporters of terrorist groups," adding that "complete intelligence oversight is established in the province and its borders, and claims of gunfire and clashes at the borders are false." Security and judicial officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran have reported the arrest of dozens of individuals in various regions following the June 7 attacks on the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the tomb of Ayatollah Khomeini in Tehran. For instance, according to a statement from the Ministry of Intelligence released on June 8, 41 members of ISIS were arrested in various provinces, including Tehran, Kermanshah, Kurdistan, and West Azerbaijan. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps also reported the destruction of terrorist groups in the provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan and Kurdistan in the days following the attacks, claiming that a group in Sistan and Baluchestan received support from the Saudi intelligence agency. In the latest case, the Ministry of Intelligence announced on Saturday, June 24, the arrest of a "terrorist group" linked to ISIS militants. The statement indicated that this group "intended to carry out terrorist actions in deep provinces and religious cities of the country," but the Ministry of Intelligence identified and arrested its members on Friday. Alongside these arrests, the IRGC conducted missile strikes on June 18 in the Deir ez-Zor province of Syria, claiming to target ISIS positions.
