Arrest of Ismail Saeed Mazraeh, Writer and Researcher in Ahvaz

News and human rights sources reported that a writer and researcher from Ahvaz was arrested by agents of the Intelligence Department of Khuzestan Province. According to a report by the Human Rights Activists in Iran on Tuesday, January 8, Saeed Ismail Mazraeh, a 'writer and researcher' in Ahvaz, was arrested at his home in the city by intelligence agents and transferred to an unknown location. The report stated that on Monday, January 7, agents conducted a 'search of the home' and seized some of Mazraeh's electronic devices, including his mobile phone and computer. The media outlet of this human rights organization also reported, 'based on received information,' that Saeed Ismail Mazraeh suffers from 'kidney disease' and 'the lack of information about his health status and fate has increased his family's concerns.' Saeed Ismail Mazraeh, 32 years old, is a researcher residing in Ahvaz and holds a master's degree in Persian literature. He has published several books, including 'Risan and the Fish of the River, Fire on the Lap of Existence, Risan and the Injured Sparrow, Risan and the Creation of Man, and Risan and the Shaflah Bush.' The Hengaw website also announced that Saeed Ismail Mazraeh worked as the 'editor of the Arabic section' of the magazine Novabat and 'conducted research in the field of Arab culture.' Pressure on civil activists from the intelligence and judicial bodies of the Islamic Republic has increased in various cities across Iran. According to previous reports on Tuesday, the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office of Ahvaz issued a total of 24 years of prison sentences for four teacher union activists following a complaint from the Intelligence of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Khuzestan Province.
