Arrest of Lotfollah Parviz in Gilan-e Gharb, Family of This Cultural Activist Is Unaware of His Situation

On Thursday, September 6, the Coordination Council of Iranian Cultural Associations announced the arrest of Lotfollah Parviz, a cultural and environmental activist, in Gilan-e Gharb, stating that his family is unaware of his situation. According to this council, Mr. Parviz was arrested at midnight on August 14 by agents of the IRGC intelligence in Kermanshah following their raid on the teacher's home. The council noted that the arrest of Lotfollah Parviz was accompanied by 'the violence of security forces' to the extent that 'his wife fainted.' According to the report, 'the IRGC intelligence has so far prevented news dissemination by threatening the family and acquaintances of this cultural activist, and despite the passage of days since the arrest of this teachers' union activist, no news is available about him.' Additionally, the Teachers' Union of Bushehr Province reported that the Fifth Branch of the Appeals Court rejected the objection of Mohsen Omrani, a teachers' union activist, to a one-year prison sentence issued by the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Bushehr, reducing that sentence to six months. This union pointed out that Mr. Omrani, along with three other members of the Bushehr Teachers' Union, had been sentenced to pay a fine of 960 million rials about two weeks ago in another case. The union criticized the ongoing cases against teachers' union activists and the issuance of sentences against them.
