Arrest of Omid Ahmadinejad, Kurdish Singer, and Two Family Members in Mahabad

Omid Ahmadinejad, a 35-year-old Kurdish artist and singer from Mahabad, was arrested on Tuesday morning, September 4, along with Ramyar Aboubakri and Siavash Soltani, members of the families seeking justice in this city, by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and transferred to an unknown location. According to Hengaw, Ahmadinejad was arrested during a raid by the Intelligence Ministry in his personal home in the village of 'Qajiabad' in Mahabad. Sources from this human rights organization reported that the security forces' attack was violent. As of the publication of this news, there is no accurate information available regarding the reasons for the arrests, the charges, or the location where Omid Ahmadinejad is being held. Simultaneously, Ramyar Aboubakri, the 16-year-old brother and seeker of justice for Zaniar Aboubakri, along with Siavash Soltani, the son of Kobra Sheikh-Saqa, one of the victims of the nationwide protests of 2022 in Mahabad, were also violently arrested by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and taken to an unknown location. According to this report, during the arrest of these two citizens, security forces physically assaulted family members, including the father and mother of Zaniar Aboubakri. By the time this news was compiled, there was no precise information regarding the reasons for the arrests and the location of these two family members seeking justice, and the families' inquiries in this regard have been fruitless. Zaniar Aboubakri, a 21-year-old from Mahabad, was shot and killed by government forces with a Kalashnikov from behind near the Simorgh Square on November 5, 2022. Kobra Sheikh-Saqa, a 52-year-old citizen from Mahabad, was killed by direct gunfire from government forces on the same day in Malajami Street; a bullet had struck her throat.
