Arrest of Suspect Attempting to Attack Israeli Consulate in New York

The Israeli consulate in New York announced on Thursday that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested a suspect attempting a terrorist attack on this diplomatic mission of Israel. According to the Times of Israel, the suspect, "Abdullah Azaldin Taha Muhammad Hassan," is an Egyptian national residing in Falls Church, Virginia, who had ordered an intermediary to carry out the attack based on a criminal complaint filed last Monday. The FBI also stated that Hassan had several social media accounts that supported ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and Hamas, promoting violence against Jews. Following the identification of Taha Muhammad Hassan, the police contacted him through a fake account on the social media platform X and an undercover agent to learn about his plans. According to U.S. police, Hassan trained the undercover agent on how to join ISIS and share jihadist propaganda. He also asked the "FBI informant" to bomb the Israeli consulate in New York and film the attack. The Israeli consul in New York, while appreciating U.S. security agencies for thwarting this attempt, stated, "This action for an attack by terrorist organizations is an attack on Israeli soil and is evidence that terrorism knows no borders, and we must fight it everywhere and at all times."
