Arrest of Two Female Motorcyclists in Dezful

The newspaper Farhikhtegan has reported that 'a few days after Ali Elhami, the police chief of Dezful, announced the arrest of two female motorcyclists in this city and their transfer to judicial authorities, the prosecutor of Dezful provided explanations regarding this matter, indicating that the homes of these two young women were searched.' The police chief of Dezful described the motorcycling of these two young women as 'undesirable and contrary to the values and norms of society and the revolution.' Now, Ahmad Ghahramani, the prosecutor of Dezful, has stated regarding this incident, which has caused a lot of noise, especially on social media: 'The accused were arrested as part of a plan to enhance moral security and combat disorder and anomalies on the roads of Dezful, and alcoholic beverages were discovered in their home. The claim that they were arrested solely for not having a license and for motorcycling is not true.' The prosecutor of Dezful has also leveled other accusations against the two arrested female motorcyclists, stating: 'These individuals engaged in motorcycling in an inappropriate and ugly manner among the youth and were exploited by reckless young people.' Mohammad Hassan Mashkouri, the director general of public relations and international cooperation at the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Discernment Council, told the newspaper Vaghaye Ettefaghieh: 'This action was taken to protect classified documents by competent authorities.' This newspaper quoted Mahmoud Alizadeh Tabatabai, the lawyer for the Hashemi Rafsanjani family, stating that 'the sealing of the office of the late Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani's advisors was not by judicial authorities but was carried out by the administrative body of the Expediency Discernment Council.' However, Mohammad Hossein Mashkouri denied this news, stating: 'The administrative section is not responsible for sealing the offices, and this action was taken by competent authorities.' In response to the question of whether the competent authorities refer to the judiciary, he stated: 'In principle, the security department is responsible for addressing this matter,' but Vaghaye Ettefaghieh reported that shortly after the publication of this news, the head of the security department of the Expediency Discernment Council stated in an interview with ILNA: 'We did not issue such an order.'
