Artificial Intelligence and Google's New Products

Google has introduced a new series of hardware products that showcase its efforts in artificial intelligence. The most significant product introduced by Google is the Pixel 2 phone, which is set to compete with new devices such as Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 and the iPhone 10. Some expected Google to choose a more reasonable price in competition with these products, but this did not happen, and the prices of these products are not particularly cheap compared to their rivals. The Pixel XL version, which is the largest new phone from Google, is priced at $950 in the U.S. market and nearly €1,000 in the European market. Despite being slightly inferior to the iPhone 10 and Galaxy Note 8, the high price of this phone has led some to question why Google Pixel 2, with weaker technical specifications than its competitors, has such a high price. However, Google believes that these phones, despite having weaker hardware, perform better due to artificial intelligence. One of these weaker hardware aspects is the lack of dual lenses on the back of the phone. Both the Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 10, which are priced close to $1,000, use this high hardware capability to take better photos with a depth of field closer to that of professional cameras. However, Google claims to create a higher depth of field using an advanced algorithm and artificial intelligence and machine learning in the photos taken by the Pixel 2 phones. The main camera sensor of this smartphone is 12.3 megapixels, and its selfie camera is 8 megapixels. Based on published photos and tests by some photographers, it is claimed that this phone is probably the best phone in the world in terms of photography capabilities. Currently, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 holds the best position in this regard, but soon the Pixel 2 will change the narrative of this competition. The Pixel 2 XL and Pixel 2 should be considered among the first smartphones to hit the market with Google Lens technology. In terms of processor, this phone has a similar status to most flagship Android phones in the world, such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The processor of this phone is Snapdragon 835. However, in terms of RAM, the phone's situation is not very favorable. Although the price of this phone is similar to that of the Note 8, its RAM is 4GB, while the Note 8 has 6GB and the OnePlus 5 has 8GB of RAM. Some market analysts believe that due to the low RAM, after two years, the Pixel 2 will slow down as apps change and become heavier. Some criticize that Google, despite the high price and not using dual lenses, could have increased the phone's RAM to 8GB. In terms of internal memory, this phone is available in 64GB and 128GB versions, and there is no option for external memory. In some areas, it is stated that Google has followed Apple's lead. For example, the removal of the headphone jack, like Apple, is something that has been criticized. The Pixel 2 is made by HTC, and the Pixel 2 XL is made by LG. However, in the near future, given the acquisition of part of HTC, it seems that Google's phones will no longer be made by different companies. In terms of battery, the Pixel 2 XL has a much better situation compared to its rivals, as the battery capacity of this phone in the XL model is 3520 mAh, which is more than 600 mAh greater than the iPhone 10. Therefore, this phone can be used more than an iPhone with a single charge. The Pixel 2 features a full HD display with a conventional aspect ratio of 16:9 and significant bezels. The design of the Pixel 2 XL is bezel-less and uses a display with QHD resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The new Pixel models are the first devices to use Android 8. However, the Pixel phone is not the only new hardware product from Google, as a new range of products from headphones to personal computers is included. One of the most interesting products introduced by Google is its smart headphones. The headphones that Google claims have simultaneous translation capabilities. "Pixel Buds" is the name of Google's latest wireless headphones, priced at $159. A touchpad is embedded on the right side of the Google earbuds, allowing the user to control music playback, volume settings, and answer incoming calls. Additionally, by touching the desired touchpad, the user can access Google Assistant and use voice commands to play music, send texts, or specify walking directions. After hearing an alert sound, by double-tapping the right side of the earbuds, the user can instruct Google Assistant to read the message to them. Google has stated that Pixel phone owners can specially use the simultaneous translation of Pixel Buds and Google Translate. Google's headphones can recognize the sound being played and translate it into the desired language in real-time. When the other person speaks, the user can hear the translation in their ear. Another smart product from Google is a small camera that can capture important moments without human intervention. This product is called Clips. Clips is an independent AI-based camera that can take photos for up to three hours and then automatically select the best captured moments for the user. This camera takes pictures of the user and then, using pre-trained machine learning algorithms, finds the best photo taken and automatically produces clips from the best images captured for the user. Another new hardware product from Google is the Pixelbook, a hybrid portable computer that can convert into a tablet. This product is very similar to Lenovo's Yoga product series. According to Google, the Pixelbook is the thinnest and lightest laptop Google has ever made. This convertible laptop can fold and turn into a tablet. The thickness of this hybrid device is 10 mm, and its weight is 1 kg. This laptop, which replaces the Chromebook Pixel, will be sold in 128GB and 512GB models. The prices of these two versions are $999 and $1649, respectively, and some say it has a very high price considering its weak operating system. The base model of the Pixelbook features an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and runs Chrome OS. This laptop is equipped with the Pixel Pen, which requires a separate payment of $99. Google claims this is the best digital pen in the world. In this product, 16GB of RAM and a Core i7 processor are also available for higher models.
