Aryan Yavari, 19-Year-Old Protester, Commits Suicide Under Security Pressure

Aryan Yavari, a 19-year-old protester who was arrested during the nationwide protests of 1401, died by suicide. According to the human rights organization 'Hengaw', this protester from the city of Boukan committed suicide on April 30 after being recently pressured by the security agencies of the Islamic Republic. Hengaw reported, citing an informed source, that a member of the Basij named 'Ahmad Alipour' had threatened this protester. Aryan Yavari had been detained for a period during the nationwide protests following the death of Mahsa (Zhina) Amini while in custody of the morality police in September 1401, accused of setting fire to the house of 'Ahmad Alipour', a Basij member from Boukan. Previously, there have been multiple reports of suspicious deaths of detained protesters and former political prisoners after their release from prison. Reports indicate that in many cases, they were under pressure from the intelligence agencies of the Islamic Republic before their suicides. In the latest case, Sara Tabrizi, a former prisoner, died under suspicious circumstances on April 5 of this year, one day after being summoned by the Ministry of Intelligence. Prior to that, Alireza Khari, a detainee from the nationwide protests of 1401 in Bandar Gaz, was buried after a 'suspicious death' on March 20, 1402. Other detainees from the nationwide protests, including Ashkan Baluch, Maryam Arvin, Mohsen Jafari Rad, Arash Forouzandeh, Arshia Imam Gholizadeh, and Yalda Aghafazli, also died under suspicious circumstances after their release. Eight female political prisoners commented on Sara Tabrizi's death, stating that the government must be held accountable for this crime. Alireza Khari, a detained protester, died following 'intensified security pressure'. Reactions to the suspicious death of Ashkan Baluch after another summons: the Islamic Republic killed him. The mother of Maryam Arvin, a lawyer who died after her release, stated that the cause of death was 'IV connection' in prison.
