At least 13 people killed in two accidents in Fars

Iran's police reported that 13 people were killed in two accidents in Fars province, which occurred shortly apart and due to similar violations. The head of the Traffic Police stated on Sunday morning, April 8, to the IRNA news agency that these accidents happened on Saturday afternoon, 25 minutes apart. In the first incident, on the Shiraz to Kazeroon road, a truck veered left and collided with a Peykan car, resulting in the deaths of five people. Shortly after, near the village of Kohneh in southern Fars province, a truck hit a Peugeot car, which subsequently caught fire and was completely burned. The accident in Kohneh resulted in eight deaths and one injury. The Iranian police reported that in the past 11 days, since the beginning of the holidays and the arrival of Nowruz, 5,500 accidents have occurred, leading to over 250 fatalities. This means that approximately 25 people have lost their lives daily in recent accidents. The recent report of deadly accidents on Fars roads comes just a day after six family members lost their lives in a traffic accident on the same Shiraz-Kazeroon route. Vehicle overturning, veering left, and excessive speed have been cited as the main causes of traffic accidents in Iran. Colonel Mohammad Hossein Hamidi, head of Iran's Traffic Police, stated on April 8 to IRNA that 'failure to observe right of way' on Iranian roads has claimed many victims in recent days. The Iranian police noted that in recent hours, snow or rain has fallen on most roads in Iran. Morning traffic has led to restrictions on movement in some areas of the Karaj-Chalus road. The Traffic Police of Khorasan province also reported heavy traffic at the exits of Mashhad.
