At least 45 killed in airstrike on police center in Sana'a

Following an airstrike by the Saudi-led coalition on a police center in Sana'a, where a group of volunteers had gathered to fight against the forces loyal to Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, at least 45 people have been killed and over 280 injured. According to the Associated Press, hundreds had gathered at this center, near the presidential palace in Sana'a, Yemen's capital, to receive weapons and ammunition to confront the forces of the ousted Hadi government. The report states that when the airstrike occurred, another group was sitting in the green space and under the shade of nearby trees. Three news sources have reported that some individuals affiliated with the Houthi armed groups were also present at the site. The airstrike destroyed at least three buildings in the complex and damaged armored vehicles. The fire resulting from the attack lasted for at least an hour. The Houthi news network also reported the initial death toll as 45 and stated that the number of victims is expected to rise. Health officials in Yemen, currently under Houthi control, reported that in attacks on the sixth of Khordad across the country, another 96 people were killed and 276 injured, in addition to those injured in the Sana'a attack. It is unclear how many of the dead and injured are civilians. The Houthis, who are supported by Iranian officials, have overthrown the government of Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, which is backed by Saudi officials. They and other allied groups are simultaneously engaged in ground battles with Hadi's armed supporters. Sunni groups loyal to Hadi have recently succeeded in driving the Shia Houthis from large parts of the city of Diala. Meanwhile, reports from witnesses in the country indicate that Saudi airstrikes against the Houthis have recently intensified.
