At least five killed in attack on police station in Turkey

Local media in Turkey report that at least five people have been killed and 39 injured in an attack on a police station in Diyarbakir. According to reports, a car bomb exploded at the entrance of a police station in the 'Chinar' area. The Guardian has stated that at least one woman and one child are among the dead. The force of the explosion was such that it caused significant damage to the outer wall of the building. According to Dogan news agency on January 24, the attackers opened fire and launched rockets from a distance after the explosion. Reports indicate that several children are among the injured. Officials in Diyarbakir province have stated that the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) carried out the attack; two people were killed in the car bomb explosion, and three others died when the building collapsed and they were trapped under the rubble. Rocket attacks also occurred at a police station in the city of Midyat in the southeastern province of Mardin, but apparently, these attacks did not result in any casualties. No group has yet claimed responsibility for these attacks. Turkey is currently engaged in battles with PKK members, who recently ended their ceasefire with government forces. At the same time, terrorist attacks have also occurred in the country, with the government at times accusing a group known as the 'Islamic State' of carrying them out. The latest such attack was a suicide bombing in Istanbul that resulted in the deaths of 10 people, mostly German tourists. In recent days, Turkish police have arrested dozens of individuals on suspicion of membership in 'ISIS.' In this context, Erdogan condemned the suicide bombing 'by a Syrian national.' Turkey has arrested 68 people on suspicion of 'planning further attacks.'
