Atrak Air Plane Incident at Mehrabad; Passengers Safe

The Iranian Airports Supervision Office reports that following an incident involving Atrak Airlines' Tehran-Mashhad flight, the arrival and departure of aircraft at Mehrabad Airport have been delayed. According to this organization, none of the passengers were harmed in the incident. The Airbus A320 of Atrak Airlines exited the runway during takeoff on the night of August 23. The official cause of the incident is not yet clear, but it has been emphasized that passengers were safely transferred to the airport terminal and are waiting for another flight to Mashhad. This flight had 150 passengers. The Mehr News Agency states that the incident occurred 'due to the breaking of the landing gear.' An hour after the news of the incident was announced, on the morning of August 23, Morteza Dehghan, the director general of the Airports Supervision Office and Civil Aviation Organizations, told the IRNA news agency that flights have resumed. The 'Aviation and Aerospace Reference Site' in Iran reports that the incident at Mehrabad Airport and the diversion of flights caused 'traffic' at Shahid Beheshti Airport in Isfahan. Atrak Airlines, which is based in Bojnord, is a private company that has been operating since 2012. According to the website 'Iranian Airlines Fleet,' this airline operates 'three Airbus A320 (model 231)' and flies to cities such as Shiraz, Isfahan, Ahvaz, and Kish Island. Reports from aviation websites indicate that Atrak Air requested 'six Embraer and three Airbus A320-CEO' during Iran's recent purchases from major aircraft manufacturers last winter. Iran's aviation fleet is aging and has lagged in development due to extensive sanctions, but following the nuclear agreement between Iran and six world powers, it is striving for modernization. Iran has ordered dozens of Airbus, Boeing, and Embraer aircraft. However, internal disputes in the United States between Republicans and the government have cast a shadow over the issue of purchasing and receiving these aircraft.
