Attack on Danish Prime Minister in Copenhagen; Attacker to Appear in Court

The Danish police announced this news about the attacker, who is 39 years old, but did not disclose his identity on social media. Ms. Frederiksen was not harmed in the attack, but according to a statement from the Danish Prime Minister's Office, she is 'shocked.' The Prime Minister's Office stated: 'Mette Frederiksen was attacked by a man in the Red Square on Friday evening. This man has been arrested.' The Danish police had previously written on social media that one person has been arrested in connection with this incident and investigations are ongoing. However, the police had refrained from commenting further. Magnus Heunicke, Denmark's Minister of Environment, also wrote on social media that this incident has disturbed Mette (Frederiksen) and all of us who are close to her. Charles Michel, President of the European Council, and Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, condemned the attack on the Danish Prime Minister. The President of the European Council emphasized on social media that he was 'angry' about this incident and wrote: 'I strongly condemn this cowardly attack.' Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, also described the attack as 'unacceptable' in a statement on social media on Saturday and condemned it strongly.
