Attacks on the President's Brother Intensify Daily

The newspaper Donya-e-Eqtesad has dedicated a photo to Mahmoud Alavi's presence at the sixteenth meeting of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce representatives, quoting the Minister of Intelligence as saying: "Foreign investment creates a kind of white security, and we must strengthen investment because strengthening investment is strengthening the foundational security." According to this newspaper, the Minister of Intelligence emphasized that "economic health and economic security" are two wings of the country's growth and prosperity, stating that "the work of the Ministry of Intelligence is to establish security for production units and economic actors," and this ministry "is supportive of those who want to use their wealth and capital to boost the domestic economy." The newspaper Shakhe Sabz also quoted Hossein Taeb regarding the public reaction to "the astronomical salaries of some managers," stating: "Knowing is the natural right of the people, and public awareness in this matter has led to a movement among the relevant officials to seriously address the state of economic mismanagement" and "executive officials, including the judiciary, must deal with violators without leniency and report these violations to the people because there is no compromise with anyone in restoring the rights of the nation." The newspaper Shargh dedicated its front page to Hossein Fereydoun, the brother of Hassan Rouhani, reporting on the "strange accusation" by Jawad Karimi Qodosi, a member of the Stability Front, against the "President's brother." According to this newspaper, Jawad Karimi Qodosi stated: "One of the cases against Hossein Fereydoun is the imitation of the President's voice; in one instance, he contacted economic centers to facilitate the clearance of illegal goods, asking them not to prevent the import of these goods." Masoud Kazemi, a reporter for Shargh, emphasized that these statements "are not part of a satirical piece" but rather "a glimpse of the remarks made by Jawad Karimi Qodosi, a representative from the Stability Front in the ninth and tenth Majlis," who also accused Hossein Fereydoun of playing a key role in "a center within the presidency" that manages the "astronomical salaries" issue. The newspaper noted the "reaction in social media with a touch of humor" to the representative's statements about Hossein Fereydoun, mentioning that some users referenced other potential imitations of voices by Fereydoun, including one user who wrote: "Karimi Qodosi reported that Hossein Fereydoun has several cases of phone harassment against 110 and the fire department and Mahmoud's home that are under investigation." Shargh assessed the repeated accusations by media close to conservatives against Hossein Fereydoun as a project of "Masha'i-making" against Hassan Rouhani's brother, stating: "Attacks on the President's brother are intensifying daily." Meanwhile, the newspaper Vatan-e-Emruz, close to the Stability Front, dedicated its front page to a photo of Hossein Fereydoun alongside Hassan Rouhani in a cabinet meeting, quoting the head of the National Inspection Organization as saying: "We warned them, but they did not pay attention." Mehdi Jabari, in a report for this newspaper, quoted Nasser Seraaj's televised remarks, stating: "The family of Ali Sedghi, the controversial former CEO of the Workers' Welfare Bank and a friend of the President's brother, owes 170 billion tomans to the banking and financial system of the country." The newspaper Vatan-e-Emruz also attacked the recent statements of Abbas Araghchi, the deputy foreign minister and member of the nuclear negotiating team, with the headline "Cover it up, Araghchi," writing: "Abbas Araghchi appeared on television on Tuesday night and made astonishing claims that the Americans have fulfilled their commitments under the JCPOA." Ahmad Noorbal, introduced by the newspaper Sepid as a "veteran psychiatry professor" in Iran and having served as the deputy minister of health and treatment, emphasized in an interview with this newspaper that "the sanctity of the medical community has been undermined." Simultaneously, Gholamali Akhshesh, the head of the Iranian Orthopedic Surgeons Association, in an interview with the newspaper Sepid, described the criticisms against the medical community as "a result of projection," stating: "I work at Jam Hospital and have closely witnessed the visits, treatments, follow-ups, and travel to France of dear Abbas Kiarostami; I know many issues. Unfortunately, many issues are trivialized, exaggerated, and exploited for specific goals." The head of the Orthopedic Surgeons Association stated: "Dr. Mir began treatment at the request of Mr. Kiarostami and issued the hospitalization order. In fact, the surgery was successfully completed, and after the surgery, an order for several days of rest was issued for the patient. In this situation, due to Dr. Mir's need to travel and the confidence he had in the surgical operation, he left Tehran," but "every surgery can have complications, and some complications may lead to death. This complication also occurred for Kiarostami, and therefore, due to the infections that arose, Dr. Behlouli had to operate on him again and remove the infected gallbladder." Gholamali Akhshesh stated: "In my opinion, if Mr. Kiarostami had stayed in Tehran and received treatment from a physician, even one other than his initial treating physician, he would certainly have had a better outcome. As someone who has been present in at least 35 major orthopedic centers around the world, I can assertively tell you that while there may be more facilities and equipment in other countries, they do not possess the surgical expertise of Iranians. In general surgery, I do not think anyone has the expertise of Dr. Mir." The head of the Orthopedic Surgeons Association also stated: "If Mr. Kiarostami, who is a great figure for the artistic community, especially the cinematic community of our country, is significant for me, Dr. Mir holds the same importance for someone like me, and Kiarostami is mine in the medical field. Just as Mr. Kiarostami may have made mistakes in his films, Dr. Mir may also experience unintended events in his field of art and science." Hamid Namazi, however, in a note in the newspaper Sepid wrote: "The death of Abbas Kiarostami, the renowned and groundbreaking Iranian director, has raised many ambiguities regarding the manner of his treatment and potential errors in the treatment process. It seems that more than the defensive stance of physicians in this matter, a reasonable and convincing response will preserve the dignity of the medical profession." The author of this newspaper emphasized that "there is a significant difference between a medical complication and a medical error," also writing that "a clear error that occurs regardless of specialized investigations in this matter and is overlooked by few is the underestimation of communication with the patient. In Iran, medicine has prioritized biological perspectives on illness due to the focus on treatment and the multitude of patients, sometimes neglecting matters such as communication with the patient. Knowing the details of the illness in a language that the patient fully understands is the patient's right. Perhaps the greatest medical crisis in Iran is this very weakness in communication with patients." Ali Jannati, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance's remarks about "the need to reform satellite law" have attracted the attention of several newspapers, including Mardomsalari, Etemad, and Ebtekar. The newspaper Mardomsalari quoted him as saying that 70% of the people in Tehran act contrary to the satellite law.
