Bahareh Hedayat on Hunger Strike; Has Lost 'Eight Kilograms' and Suffers from 'Severe Weakness and Palpitations'

Bahareh Hedayat's lawyer stated that this political prisoner has lost eight kilograms after 10 days of hunger strike and is currently suffering from 'severe weakness and palpitations.' Zahra Minoui, Hedayat's lawyer, wrote on social media on Sunday, September 10, in response to inquiries about the health status of this political prisoner, that during a meeting with her family, it became clear that 'after 10 days of hunger strike, she has lost eight kilograms and is currently suffering from severe weakness and palpitations.' According to Zahra Minoui, Bahareh Hedayat's physical condition is such that 'she was able to come to the meeting place with the help of a prison officer.' She expressed hope that her client would 'break the hunger strike as soon as possible, having received information about the messages and reactions to her strike.' Bahareh Hedayat has been on hunger strike since Thursday, September 1, in protest against issues such as the 'increased repression' of protesters by the Islamic Republic and the death of Javad Rouhi, a imprisoned protester. Javad Rouhi's family has urged her to end her hunger strike. In a letter dated Saturday, September 9, Bahareh Hedayat described the Islamic Republic as 'going away' and emphasized that her hunger strike is a renewal of her commitment to the 'public conscience of Iranians for freedom' and the 'Mahsa uprising on the eve of its anniversary.' In this letter, the political prisoner described political conscience as 'the authentic source of power' for the people and a fundamental need for saving the land of Iran from the 'quagmire of totalitarian religious governance,' linking the end of the Islamic Republic to 'thoughtful political action based on conscience.' According to Bahareh Hedayat, the prolonged existence of this regime equates to 'diminishing the lifespan of this land and nation,' and her 'life, freedom, or imprisonment' is only significant when it increases the will for 'overthrowing the regime.' Bahareh Hedayat also regarded her hunger strike as 'a bowing down to the grieving families, especially their suffering from the repressions they have endured these days.'
