Bahrām Gohari's Photo Exhibition at Jahan Nama Gallery

A photo exhibition featuring portraits of Iranian artists by Bahrām Gohari is being held from September 7 to 12 of this year, August 29 to September 3, at the Jahan Nama Gallery in Niavaran, Tehran. Gohari, a 20-year-old Iranian photographer, is showcasing 30 color photographs measuring 35 × 30 centimeters, capturing various artists from the country, including directors, actors, photographers, sculptors, and more. In recent years, renowned artists such as Maryam Zandi and Farhad Fakhr al-Dini have also garnered admiration for their notable portraits of Iranian artists. Following them, photographers like Hassan Moshkinfam and Mansour Zabetian continued this trend, and now Bahrām Gohari, with the help of a Mamiya 120 camera and several projectors, is presenting images of artists like Khosrow Sinai (director), Iraj Rad (actor), Asghar Bichareh (photographer), Shojaeddin Shahabi (sculptor), and others. Although this is Gohari's first exhibition, it must be acknowledged that despite his youth, he has managed to skillfully and appropriately use light, as well as select suitable frames and compositions, to produce and present commendable images of artists. Generally, young Iranian photographers have always aimed to dedicate their first exhibitions to social, news, abstract, architectural, and nature images. A look at several rounds of exhibitions by emerging photographers at the House of Photographers in Iran supports this notion. Gohari's portrait exhibition offers much to contemplate and could herald a new movement among young and novice Iranian photographers. However, it should be noted that he has stepped into the realm of greats and veterans, which demands even greater effort from him in the future.
