Benjamin Netanyahu Transferred to Hospital

The spokesperson for Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, stated on Tuesday, April 7, that Mr. Netanyahu was transferred to the hospital for medical tests following a high fever and persistent cough. According to Reuters, David Baker said that Netanyahu's attending physician believes that the illness he suffered two weeks ago is still ongoing and he has not fully regained his health. Therefore, it was decided that Mr. Netanyahu should be hospitalized for further tests. As reported, 68-year-old Benjamin Netanyahu fell ill in mid-March and canceled all his appointments for five days. The Prime Minister's spokesperson added that Mr. Netanyahu did not rest fully after falling ill two weeks ago, which exacerbated his condition. While news of Benjamin Netanyahu's illness has emerged, he has been interrogated in recent weeks regarding three corruption cases. On Monday, Benjamin Netanyahu, his wife, and one of their sons were interrogated by investigators from the Israeli Police's Anti-Corruption Unit. This was the ninth police interrogation of the Prime Minister as a 'suspect' in three corruption cases and the second round of police investigations into him in the case known as 'Case 4000.' According to Israeli media, in this case, also referred to as 'Walla-Bezeq,' Mr. Netanyahu is suspected of granting favors to the telecommunications company 'Bezeq' during his tenure as Minister of Communications while retaining the Prime Minister's office, in exchange for favorable coverage of him and his family on their main portal, 'Walla News.' The Israeli police have temporarily detained several senior officials, including the former head of Netanyahu's election campaign and two of his advisors, in connection with 'Case 4000.' Three of these detained officials, including Nir Hefetz, have expressed their willingness to testify against the Prime Minister and his wife in exchange for immunity from potential punishment.
