Bernie Sanders Officially Enters U.S. Presidential Race; Trump Attacks Socialism

Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders officially entered the U.S. presidential race with a speech at a rally in Brooklyn, calling Donald Trump 'dangerous.' Bernie Sanders, who has been a member of the U.S. Congress since 1990, was a Democratic candidate in the previous presidential election in 2016 but made headlines with his loss in the primaries. Almost simultaneously with Sanders' rally in Brooklyn, Donald Trump held a two-hour rally in Maryland, about 300 kilometers away. In his speech to supporters, Trump did not mention Bernie Sanders by name but attacked 'socialist policies,' stating: 'Socialism is not about the environment; it is not about justice; it is not about virtues; it is only about one thing: power for the ruling class.' Trump emphasized that 'the future will not belong to believers in socialism' and stated that the Republican Party must achieve 'an even bigger victory than in 2016' in the 2020 elections. Although Trump did not mention Sanders in his lengthy speech, his vice president, Mike Pence, emphasized that Sanders admits to being a socialist. The next presidential election in the U.S. is scheduled for November 3, 2020, corresponding to Aban 13, 1399.
