Beyzai to Release Video Version of 'One Thousand and First Night'

If you, like me, were unable to watch the performance of 'One Thousand and First Night', do not worry too much; Bahram Beyzai (the director of this work) will release a video version of it. Beyzai, who is currently editing this film, believes that the purpose of turning this performance into a film is to respond to those who missed the opportunity to see it during its run. The performance of 'One Thousand and First Night' concluded two weeks ago at the Four-Su Hall in Tehran (next to the City Theater), and Beyzai did not extend the performance due to the actors' commitments to other works. The actors in this performance included Akbar Zanjanpour, Hamid Farokhnezhad, Mojdeh Shamsaie, Shabnam Tolu'i, Panteha Bahram, Behnaz Jafari, Setareh Eskandari, Shabnam Farshadjou, and Ali Omrani. 'One Thousand and First Night' welcomed a maximum of 170 spectators daily in the 120-seat Four-Su Hall, forcing audiences to wait in long lines to buy tickets. In an interview with the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), Beyzai responded to the question of whether filming the theater would eliminate the existence of theater, stating: 'In the filming of this performance, an effort has been made for professional recording.' The performance consists of three separate but related plays. In the first episode, Beyzai attempts to explain the main roots of the story of 'One Thousand and One Nights'; in the second episode, he discusses the transfer of the story from Pahlavi to Arabic; and the third episode is about a woman reading 'One Thousand and One Nights'. According to ISNA, all three parts of this performance are related to the story of 'One Thousand and One Nights' without being adaptations. Each play belongs to a specific historical period, making them both independent and interconnected. Currently, Reza Derakhshani is in charge of filming 'One Thousand and First Night', and this video will soon be released on CD and VHS tape.
