Biden Says Only God Can Dissuade Him from Running in the Election

Amid concerns among Democrats about issues related to aging and threats from some financial supporters for Joe Biden to withdraw from the presidential race, he has reiterated his determination to run for the Democrats, stating, "Only Almighty God can dissuade me from the electoral race." The 81-year-old Biden emphasized on Friday, July 6, in a speech to his supporters in Wisconsin and in an interview with ABC News that he is the "best candidate" to defeat Donald Trump. When asked by the ABC host how he would feel if he remained in the race and lost to Trump, he said he would feel that he had put in all his effort for the best he knew how to do. Following his acknowledgment of a poor performance in last month's debate with Trump, the potential Republican nominee, Biden continues to face a wave of criticism from within the Democratic Party. On Friday, during a fiery speech to his supporters and in his interview with ABC, he attempted to showcase his abilities to continue in the electoral race. Regarding the results of some polls indicating an increase in Trump's popularity after the first debate, Biden mentioned that some polls also show him in a better position. When asked if he had undergone a specific cognitive test for neurological examination, he stated that he had not been tested and had not been requested to do so. He added that the medical scrutiny at the White House is sufficient. According to Reuters, in his last examination on February 28, more than four months ago, it was reported that he is fit for duty. However, David Axelrod, a Democratic strategist and senior advisor during Barack Obama's presidency, told CNN that it seems Biden cannot grasp the reality that people have questions about his health. Biden's advanced age and lack of dynamism in speech and behavior during the debate with Trump and in several public appearances in recent months have fueled doubts about his sufficient health for another four-year term. If Biden wins re-election, he will be 86 at the end of his second term. Nevertheless, Biden attributed his poor debate performance against Trump to "severe cold and fatigue" in his interview with ABC. According to American media, several of the most influential major donors to Biden's campaign, after days of behind-the-scenes efforts and hopes that he would independently decide to withdraw, have now taken action and initiated plans to push him aside. Meanwhile, a source told Reuters that Mark Warner, a respected centrist senator from the Democratic Party, invited a group of his fellow party senators on Monday to encourage them to pressure Biden to withdraw from the election. However, Biden claims to have spoken with at least 20 senior Democratic lawmakers who want him to remain in the race. He also stated that senior Democratic leaders continue to support him and regarding Warner's position, he believes that this senator is the only one considering his withdrawal from the electoral race. Mike Quigley, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, also urged Biden on MSNBC to withdraw and allow someone else to enter the race against Trump or face the risk of a "total disaster."
