Biden: The War Will Stop When Hamas Can No Longer Kill Israelis

U.S. President Joe Biden stated on Wednesday, after meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, that he believes the war between Israel and Hamas will only cease when the militant group can no longer kill or injure Israelis. The Palestinian militant group Hamas killed at least 1,200 Israelis, mostly civilians, in a terrorist attack on October 7 and kidnapped around 240 Israelis and foreign nationals, including children, women, and the elderly. According to the Associated Press, Biden emphasized that 'the only final answer is a two-state solution' where Israelis and Palestinians can live side by side. Biden also urged Israel to exercise caution during military operations at the largest hospital in Gaza, Shifa. On Wednesday, Israel announced that its soldiers discovered military equipment used by Hamas during their assault on the Shifa hospital in Gaza City. According to CNN, the Israeli army stated that soldiers found a room in the hospital containing 'technological equipment along with weapons used by Hamas.' The statement continued that 'in another part of the hospital, soldiers found a Hamas operations command center, indicating that this group was using the hospital for terrorist purposes.' Footage provided by the Israeli army from the Shifa hospital showed evidence of how Hamas forces used MRI machines to hide military equipment. A large number of weapons, explosive vests, and communication equipment were also discovered in the MRI section of the Shifa hospital, hidden in cabinets and special rooms. Doctors and health officials from Hamas had previously denied using the hospital as a command center and a base for attacking Israeli forces. Meanwhile, the Israeli army announced that it would continue its operations at the Shifa hospital complex to find underground tunnels. The U.S., European Union, and Japan have designated the Hamas militant group, which is supported by the Islamic Republic, as a terrorist organization.
