Biden Unveils New $375 Million Military Aid Package to Ukraine

U.S. President Joe Biden announced on Sunday that America will provide a new $375 million military aid package to Ukraine. According to Reuters, Mr. Biden told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the U.S. is making every effort to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities in its war against Russia. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan. Biden stated that the new military aid includes ammunition, artillery, armored vehicles, and training for Ukrainian forces. The U.S. President assured Mr. Zelensky that the G7 supports Ukraine and promised that they would not go anywhere. The White House emphasized that Biden reiterated America's readiness to assist in enhancing Ukraine's long-term defense capabilities to counter and prevent Russian aggression. According to the report, Biden also mentioned U.S. support for a joint effort by allied countries to train Ukrainian pilots in the use of fourth-generation fighter jets, such as the F-16. The Ukrainian President's office stated that Mr. Zelensky thanked the United States for the new package and the $37 billion in financial aid provided to date. Meanwhile, a senior U.S. official said that Biden invited his Japanese and South Korean counterparts to meet in Washington after their trilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 summit. The White House released a statement after the Hiroshima meeting, indicating that discussions were held on how to enhance trilateral cooperation, including coordination in facing North Korea's 'illegal nuclear and missile threats.' Zelensky noted that some Arab leaders have ignored Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Additionally, there was a warning from Russia to the West regarding the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. Zelensky arrived in Japan to attend the G7 meeting, and Biden confirmed the training program for Ukrainian pilots on the F-16 fighter jet.
