Billionaires of 2018

As the wealth of individuals increases, the gap between truly wealthy countries and relatively wealthy countries also widens. This year, 2,208 billionaires have been listed in Forbes' annual list, the highest number ever. The total wealth of all these billionaires amounts to $9.1 trillion, which is an 18% increase compared to last year. The wealth of the top 20 richest people in the world totals an astonishing $1.2 trillion, nearly equivalent to the annual economic output of Mexico. In total, these 20 individuals make up less than 1% of all the world's billionaires, yet their combined wealth accounts for 13% of all billionaires' wealth globally. This year's Forbes list includes billionaires from 72 countries, with a billionaire from Hungary and Zimbabwe making their debut on the list for the first time. Forbes has decided not to assess and publish the wealth of Saudi billionaires this year, due to the seizure of assets from several wealthy individuals following the arrest of 200 people at the behest of the Saudi Crown Prince, including several billionaires, some of whom were under house arrest in a luxury hotel for about three months. Despite the increase in wealth for most billionaires over the past year, the wealth of 16% of them has decreased. One of the main losers is President Donald Trump, whose wealth has decreased by $400 million since March 2017, now standing at $3.1 billion. His ranking on the billionaire list has dropped to 766, down from 544 previously. The list of the ten richest billionaires in the world is as follows: Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Bernard Arnault, Mark Zuckerberg, Amancio Ortega, Carlos Slim, Charles Koch, David Koch, and Larry Ellison.
