Blinken Meets with Leaders of Jewish, Arab, and Palestinian American Communities in the United States

U.S. President Joe Biden, in a speech last Thursday night at the White House, urged Americans to condemn such sentiments. The State Department stated that Blinken on Monday 'strongly condemned racist, anti-Semitic, Islamophobic, and anti-Palestinian incidents' and 'emphasized that there is no place for hate in America or anywhere else.' During these meetings, Blinken condemned the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, which resulted in the deaths of 1,400 people, and stressed the 'ironclad' commitment of the United States to Israel's security. Blinken explicitly stated that Washington supports 'the Palestinian people and a two-state solution' and reiterated that Hamas does not represent the Palestinians. The Gaza Strip, a land 45 kilometers long and a maximum of 13 kilometers wide, houses a population of 2.3 million and has been governed by Hamas, an Islamist militant group supported by the Islamic Republic, since 2007, while being surrounded by Israel. Local officials in Gaza report that Israel has heavily bombarded Gaza with airstrikes, resulting in the deaths of over 5,000 Palestinians. The U.S. Department of Justice is monitoring the increase in reported threats against Jewish, Muslim, and Arab communities in America. The U.S. Attorney General has warned about the rising threats stemming from the Israel-Hamas war, noting the increase in threats against Jewish and Muslim communities in America; the FBI stated that they take these threats seriously.
