Bojnourd Shook 14 Times

According to reports, over the past hours, from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning, one earthquake and 13 aftershocks occurred in Bojnourd, the capital of North Khorasan province. Initial reports indicate the observation of cracks in structures, but no casualties have been reported. According to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the earthquake occurred at 22:22 on June 4, measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale, followed by approximately 4 hours of 13 aftershocks averaging 2.2 on the Richter scale. Besides the main earthquake, the largest aftershock was reported at 3. The last aftershock occurred at 1:45 AM on June 5, and no further aftershocks have been reported since then. Reports indicate that Bojnourd citizens spent the night in worry, with some reportedly staying in parks, streets, and open spaces. The IRNA news agency, based on statements from 'responsible officials,' reported that 'no casualties have been reported, and only initial reports mention cracks in walls and broken windows in some houses.' The Mehr news agency also quoted the city's governor stating, 'Signs of cracks in the walls of houses in some areas of the city and also in the Garamkhan fence are evident.' The main earthquake, according to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. Hossein Azimi, the director of crisis management in North Khorasan province, told IRNA that 14 teams are prepared to be dispatched to the affected areas to assess damages and needs. The Iranian Red Crescent Society also stated that teams have been sent to assess potential human casualties in the area, although no reports of human injuries have been released yet.
