British Foreign Secretary: The Islamic Republic is responsible for preventing Houthi attacks

David Cameron, the British Foreign Secretary, stated in a conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, that the Islamic Republic is responsible for preventing Houthi attacks. Mr. Cameron posted on social media platform 'X' that he discussed the Houthi attacks, which he claimed 'threaten innocent lives and the global economy.' The British Foreign Secretary added, 'I clearly stated that Iran, given its long-standing support for the Houthis, bears the responsibility for preventing these attacks.' Last week, David Cameron also committed to applying more deterrent mechanisms against Tehran and labeled the Iranian government as 'a completely malevolent influence in the region and the world.' In response, Mr. Amir-Abdollahian, in a post on X regarding his conversation with Mr. Cameron, criticized the support of the United States and Britain for Israel, claiming, 'The Islamic Republic of Iran and its allies are always a positive part of regional developments and security.' The Iranian Foreign Minister makes this claim despite the fact that the Islamic Republic's interventions in regional countries have led to increased instability and the deaths of tens of thousands. In Syria, the government of Bashar al-Assad, which receives extensive military support from the Islamic Republic, is primarily responsible for the massacre of half a million citizens and the displacement of millions. In Yemen, the arming of the Houthis against the legitimate government of Yemen and Saudi Arabia by the Islamic Republic has plunged the country into one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world. In Iraq, many observers and analysts consider the Iran-backed militia groups to be the main factor of instability and the widening of sectarian and ethnic divides. In Lebanon, the Iran-supported Hezbollah, through its sectarian and illegal actions, has weakened the government of that country and, especially with its recent escalated provocative attacks against Israeli citizens, has put the country, which is facing an unprecedented economic crisis, on the brink of direct war with Israel. In Gaza, the two groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad, which receive direct support from the Islamic Republic, have caused widespread destruction for Palestinian civilians through their provocative actions in recent years, especially the deadly terrorist attack on October 7, which resulted in the massacre of 1,200 people, including women, children, and the elderly, and about 240 others being taken hostage. As a result of the Islamic Republic's costly and deadly interventionist policies in the region, as well as its nuclear ambitions and repressive practices against Iranians, Western countries led by the United States have imposed extensive sanctions against its institutions and officials while emphasizing their determination to confront the Islamic Republic and continue supporting the Iranian people.
