Brother of Yorush Mehrali Bigloo, Imprisoned Civil Activist, Calls for Public Support for Political Prisoners

The brother of Yorush Mehrali Bigloo, an imprisoned civil activist, in a video message emphasized his ignorance about his brother's situation and called for public support for political prisoners. Yilmaz Mehrali Bigloo, in this message, recalled that 74 days have passed since his brother's arrest and noted that despite repeated requests from the family to judicial authorities for the possibility of phone contact, this request has not been fulfilled so far. According to this family member of political prisoners, Yorush Mehrali Bigloo, an activist protesting the 'deliberate drying of Lake Urmia,' has only been able to make a brief phone call to his family once since his arrest. Yilmaz Mehrali Bigloo mentioned the unknown conditions of five political prisoners named Parviz Siyabi, Ali Razi Zadeh, Milad Jalili, Ebrahim Rashidi, and Yorush Mehrali Bigloo, stating that they have done nothing but 'work for the happiness, freedom, and dignity of the homeland and the people of the country.' This lawyer, whose legal case has not been renewed due to pressure from security agencies, emphasized that the government considers the activities of these five political prisoners as a 'serious crime.' Previously, some activists and human rights organizations reported on the 'torture' of several detainees protesting the 'deliberate drying of Lake Urmia' by the intelligence agency in Tabriz. According to the Azerbaijan Political Prisoners Defense Association (ADAP), several detainees in Tabriz, including Javad Sudbar, Ali Babaei, Yorush Mehrali Bigloo, and Davood Shiri, have been tortured. Sina Yousafi, a lawyer residing in Germany, confirmed this news in an interview with Voice of America, stating that these activists were tortured to 'confess to charges they did not commit.' Additionally, Javad Sudbar and Ali Babaei were temporarily released after 100 days of detention. Javad Sudbar continues his hunger strike in the Tabriz intelligence detention center, and family members are unaware of his condition. Concerns remain over the continued detentions related to the drying of Lake Urmia, with accusations of conspiracy and gatherings. 200 activists are worried about the continued detention of several national, civil, and political activists.
