California Wildfire Becomes 'Deadliest' Forest Fire in the State

The number of bodies found in the California wildfire has reached at least 29, while dozens remain missing. A 'forest fire' is an uncontrollable fire that starts in wildlife, grasslands, forests, or rural areas and spreads to other regions. The fire began last Thursday in northern California, and strong winds have spread it to other cities and counties in the state. Currently, both sides of the state are affected by the fire. Rescuers and firefighters have described the winds as 'demonic,' stating they reached speeds of 64 kilometers per hour on Sunday. The Northern California sheriff announced early Monday that six more bodies were found, bringing the death toll to 29. Government officials say at least 228 people are still missing, and the latest figures have significantly increased the number of missing persons in this incident. A report indicated that the fire has destroyed over 6,700 homes and buildings. However, fires in other areas, including the southern part of the state, have also been reported. In western Los Angeles, at least 177 buildings have burned, but officials said a better assessment would be conducted on Monday, and financial damages are expected to exceed current estimates. California Governor Jerry Brown stated on Sunday, 'It is time for us to come together.' Governor Brown has indicated that in the next 10 to 20 years, this 'new unusual trend' will worsen and disrupt life in the state. In previous deadly fires in California, at least 25 and 29 people lost their lives in Oakland in 1991 and Griffith Park in 1933, respectively. The Oakland fire also destroyed over three thousand homes and residential buildings. Until now, the Griffith fire was considered one of the deadliest incidents of its kind in U.S. history. The deadliest incidents include the fire resulting from the September 11 attacks, which claimed the lives of over 300 people (excluding other victims of the attacks), and the 1910 fire in the western U.S., known as the 'Devil's Broom,' which left 87 victims.
