Campaign 'Tuesdays Against Execution' Warns of the Danger of Executing Pakhshan Azizi

Members of the 'Tuesdays Against Execution' campaign, in the fifty-fifth week of this human rights initiative, warned that if Pakhshan Azizi is taken for execution, they will adopt new strategies to counter this inhumane sentence. In a statement for the fifty-fifth week of the 'Tuesdays Against Execution' campaign, political prisoners involved expressed concern over the death sentence issued for Pejman Soltani, another political prisoner, and warned about the danger of executing Pakhshan Azizi, who is also sentenced to death. Members of this human rights campaign staged a hunger strike in dozens of prisons for the fifty-fifth consecutive week on Tuesday, protesting the 'issuance and execution of inhumane death sentences' by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic. The campaign also warned that 'if Ms. Pakhshan Azizi is taken out of the general ward for execution, new measures and strategies will be adopted to counter this inhumane sentence, and no effort will be spared to prevent this crime.' Participating prisoners stated: 'We urge all people and human rights activists to stand against the execution in any way possible. This time, we should not mourn another loved one; we must resist before the crime occurs. This is a serious test for all of us.' Concurrently with this anti-execution campaign in prisons, on Tuesday, February 23, a group of civil activists, including Arash Sadeghi, Hossein Razaghi, Jafar Panahi, and Narges Mohammadi, along with several families of political prisoners sentenced to death, including the family of Varishe Moradi, gathered in front of Evin Prison. Additionally, some supporters of the 'Tuesdays Against Execution' campaign gathered in front of the central prison in Saqez to condemn the issuance of death sentences in Iran. Videos received by Voice of America show that Iranians abroad are also participating in the anti-death penalty campaign in various cities around the world.
