CENTCOM: Houthi Missile Attack on American Ship Caused No Damage

The United States Central Command, CENTCOM, stated early Monday that Houthi rebels in Yemen fired an anti-ship ballistic missile, reportedly targeting the tanker 'MV Torm Tor.' However, according to CENTCOM, the missile did not hit the American-operated tanker, which sails under the U.S. flag. The attack occurred on Saturday in the Gulf of Aden. CENTCOM mentioned in a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that the missile landed in the water, causing no damage or injuries. The Houthi rebels, aligned with the Islamic Republic of Iran, claimed on Sunday that they targeted a tanker. CENTCOM also reported that U.S. forces shot down two one-way drones over the southern Red Sea on Sunday in 'self-defense.' The Houthis, who control the most populous areas of Yemen, have been attacking commercial ships with drones and missiles since November in protest against Israeli military operations in Gaza. Some experts suggest these attacks are carried out at the request of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Israeli army targeted Hezbollah positions deep in Lebanon for the first time.
