CENTCOM Reports Destruction of Four Missiles, Three Drones, and Three Houthi Shahed Drones

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) reported in its latest update on confronting Houthi threats from Yemen that on Tuesday, March 5, it destroyed one Houthi missile and three drones after they were launched, and three missiles and three Houthi Shahed drones before any operation. According to CENTCOM, the Houthis, supported by the Islamic Republic, fired a ballistic anti-ship missile and three attack drones at the USS Carney in the Red Sea between 3 and 5 PM local time in Sana'a, which were neutralized before posing a threat to the American ship. CENTCOM further stated that around 9 to 10 PM, its forces identified and destroyed three anti-ship missiles and three unmanned surface vessels (Shahed drones) from the Houthis before any operation. CENTCOM emphasized that its operations in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden are aimed at countering the subversive actions of the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen to ensure maritime trade and the safe passage of cargo ships, allowing U.S. warships and coalition forces to continue their missions securely. The Houthi rebels in Yemen, supported by the Islamic Republic, have repeatedly attacked international commercial ships in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea with missiles and drones since early November this year, claiming to support the people of Gaza. Many of these attacks have been neutralized by U.S. or coalition forces, and numerous Houthi bases inside Yemen have been targeted by independent or joint attacks from the U.S. military and other U.S. allies.
