CENTCOM Reports Destruction of Two Houthi Anti-Ship Missiles Early Wednesday

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that at 2:30 AM on Wednesday, local time in Sana'a, it conducted another strike against Houthi positions in Yemen, destroying two anti-ship missiles belonging to the group supported by the Islamic Republic that were prepared to be launched towards the Red Sea. CENTCOM also stated that the U.S. military determined that the Houthis intended to target commercial ships and U.S. naval vessels in the region. On Monday evening, the United States, in a joint operation with Britain, also targeted Houthi positions. Britain announced that the attacks on Monday were conducted with the support and participation of 24 countries. Additionally, CENTCOM reported that in response to attacks by Iranian-backed Iraqi militia groups on the Ain al-Asad base in Iraq, U.S. forces targeted these groups' positions. According to CENTCOM, U.S. forces conducted airstrikes at 12:15 AM on Wednesday, local time in Iraq, targeting three sections of facilities used by the Iranian-affiliated militia group Kata'ib Hezbollah and other Tehran-linked groups in Iraq. CENTCOM also stated that in these attacks, warehouses and locations associated with the missile and drone capabilities of Kata'ib Hezbollah were destroyed. In recent weeks, the United States has attacked the positions of Iranian proxy groups in Iraq and Syria in response to their attacks. U.S. forces have attacked the positions of Iranian proxy groups in Iraq. CENTCOM concluded the 'search and rescue' operation for missing American sailors. The White House stated that it takes the Iranian proxy attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq 'very seriously.' CENTCOM confirmed the attack by Iranian-backed militants on the Ain al-Asad base in Iraq.
