Channel 12 of Israeli Television: Hezbollah's Pagers Were Deliberately Manufactured and Exploded

On Saturday, September 31, Channel 12 of Israeli television reported that each pager belonging to Hezbollah members was produced under Israeli supervision and examined before detonation to ensure that innocent individuals would not be harmed. According to the report citing informed officials, the pagers were manufactured in a completely 'deliberate' and calculated manner so that no signs of explosives could be detected or traced. This Israeli television network also confirmed that Israel decided to establish its own factory to produce communication devices from scratch under full supervision, rather than tampering with the manufactured pagers, to achieve its objectives. This decision was made with the knowledge that Hezbollah, due to extensive sanctions from the United States, is unable to procure its needs from free markets and must deal through intermediaries. According to Channel 12 and confirmed by Israeli military officials, Hezbollah purchased more pagers and began using them after the death of Fouad Shukr in Beirut due to increased caution regarding the use of mobile phones, as the group's leaders believed that Israel would impose more serious threats through mobile communications if hostilities escalated. Amos Yadlin, former head of Israeli military intelligence, stated that Israel's goal with these explosions is to make Hassan Nasrallah understand that the cost of his attacks on northern Israel is greater than what he gains. A foreign security source also told Channel 12 that the pager explosions should not be considered a strategic attack, as Israel has much more significant capabilities to strike at its enemy. Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, stated on Thursday, September 29, regarding the deadly explosions of the group's wireless devices and pagers supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran: 'Undoubtedly, we suffered an unprecedented security and military blow that is unprecedented in Lebanon's history.' As a result of the explosions of hundreds of pagers and wireless devices belonging to Hezbollah members on the past Tuesday and Wednesday, at least 37 people were killed and over 3,000 were injured.
