According to the report, the CIA has also halted the hiring process for individuals who had received conditional offers. An assistant to John Ratcliffe, the CIA director, stated that some of these job offers may be rescinded, especially if applicants do not have a background aligned with the agency's new objectives, which include focusing on drug cartels, Trump's trade war, and undermining China. Two informed sources told Reuters that the CIA, in line with new management decisions to align the agency with Donald Trump's policies, offered buyouts to all its employees on Tuesday, February 6. The White House has offered buyouts to hundreds of thousands of federal employees. A CIA spokesperson stated that the goal of this decision is to align the agency's operations with the objectives of John Ratcliffe, the new director. He added, 'Mr. Ratcliffe, the new director, intends to ensure the alignment and compliance of all agency employees with the national security priorities of the new U.S. government through decisive actions. This move is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at injecting new energy into the CIA.' John Ratcliffe, a former House member who served as the Director of National Intelligence during Trump's first term, was confirmed by the Senate as the new CIA director shortly after Trump's return to the White House on January 20. The CIA never discloses its budget or the number of employees. The agency did not respond to Reuters' request for comment on this matter. This new action regarding the CIA is part of the broader changes that Donald Trump is pursuing in the U.S. government. He has promised to significantly reduce the federal workforce and restructure it for efficiency and savings, a topic that has sparked widespread reactions in Washington. In this context, last week, the Trump administration offered about two million permanent and full-time federal employees the option to resign in exchange for pay and bonuses until the end of September. On Tuesday, unions representing federal employees filed a lawsuit to prevent the implementation of Trump's buyout plan for federal workers.
