Citizens of Seven Countries Cannot Obtain U.S. Visas

On Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an order imposing travel restrictions on citizens from several countries. It was previously reported that this order includes Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, and Somalia. The ban on issuing U.S. visas for ordinary citizens of these countries is announced for 90 days and for refugees for 120 days. The U.S. State Department's Facebook page published a text regarding this: President Trump issued an executive order that temporarily suspends the entry of citizens from seven countries into the U.S. under Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. While protecting national security is our primary priority, the suspension from this executive order allows us to review current vetting processes. Starting January 27, 2017, citizens or dual nationals of any of these countries will not be allowed to enter the United States or be issued immigrant or non-immigrant visas for 90 days. Citizens or dual nationals of these countries who have valid immigrant or non-immigrant visas will not be permitted to enter the U.S. during this period. This executive order imposes a 90-day ban on the entry of citizens from specific designated countries to allow for proper vetting and to establish criteria to prevent the entry of foreign nationals who may pose a terrorist or criminal threat. The countries designated by Congress or the Secretary of Homeland Security include: Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Iran, Somalia, Libya, and Yemen. Citizens or dual nationals of these countries who have valid immigrant or non-immigrant visas will not be permitted to enter the U.S. during this period. Generally, visa interviews for citizens of these countries will not be conducted during this time.
