Clashes in Ramallah Leave 35 Injured

In clashes that occurred after Israeli forces raided the city of Ramallah in the West Bank early Thursday, at least 35 people were injured, according to Palestinian officials. Reuters reported that the Israeli army was in the process of demolishing the home of a Palestinian accused of a double bombing in Jerusalem last year. The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that at least 20 people were injured by live ammunition; two suffered serious injuries to the abdomen, and a plastic bullet struck another person's skull. A Reuters journalist reported that a large military convoy entered the center of Ramallah, the center of the Palestinian Authority in the occupied West Bank, leading to a gathering of hundreds of Palestinians in the area. According to this journalist, some Palestinian youths threw stones at Israeli soldiers, who responded by firing at the crowd. As the sound of ambulance sirens was heard, burning trash cans blocked the roads. The Israeli army stated that soldiers were targeted with Molotov cocktails and stones and responded with direct fire. The Israeli army also reported that a Palestinian photographer was hit by a plastic bullet, and this incident is under investigation. The Israeli army announced that its forces carried out the demolition operation of Islam Farukh's house, who was arrested last year on suspicion of carrying out a deadly bombing in Jerusalem.
