Clinton and Trump Continued Their Harsh Criticism of Each Other After the Debate

Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee, reiterated accusations against her Republican rival Donald Trump regarding 'racism', 'anti-woman sentiments', and 'tax evasion' just hours after their first debate in the presidential election. Trump has promised to launch even harsher attacks against Clinton in the next debate. During the debate on October 5 in New York, the Democratic nominee made similar accusations against her opponent while stating that he does not disclose his tax returns because he has something to hide from the public. After the debate, Clinton told reporters that Trump 'made accusations and claims that are clearly untrue and reflect opinions that, in my view, upset many people.' On the other hand, Donald Trump has promised to intensify his attacks against his Democratic rival in the next debate, stating that 'on every issue [raised], Clinton reacted neutrally, while I presented a plan for job creation, security, and prosperity.' He also praised himself for not addressing the issue of the marital infidelities of Hillary Clinton's husband, Bill Clinton, and promised that he might bring it up in the next debate: 'I went easy on her because I didn't want to play with anyone's emotions.' Trump told Fox News that when Clinton criticized him for being anti-woman, he said nothing: 'I could have brought up the subject of the women her husband [Hillary Clinton] was involved with. But I decided not to do that because their daughter [Chelsea Clinton] was present at the debate.' According to Reuters, Clinton downplayed Trump's comments in response, stating, 'He can run his campaign however he likes.' The Democratic nominee emphasized that 'the main issue is controlling emotions, being competent, and being qualified, which is necessary to take on the hardest and most important job in the world (the presidency of the United States).' According to Reuters, Trump himself had relationships with Marla Maples while he was married to his first wife, Ivana Trump, whom he later married. Their marriage did not last, and Trump married his third and current wife, Melania Trump. Melania Trump sometimes appears during Trump's campaign, although the presence of his children is much more noticeable. Bill and Chelsea Clinton, Hillary Clinton's husband and daughter, also accompany her during important campaign events, and both were present at the debate at Hofstra University in Long Island, New York.
