CNN: Hamas Military Weapons Have Come from Iran

CNN reported on how the militant group Hamas has secured military weapons, citing various sources and experts who state that Hamas has been armed by the Islamic Republic of Iran and that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has been training Hamas forces for the past two decades. According to the news agency, the book 'World Factbook of the CIA' states that Hamas obtains its weapons through smuggling or local manufacturing and receives military support from the Islamic Republic. The report emphasizes that although Israel and the United States have not yet found any direct role of the Iranian government in the recent attacks, experts say that the Islamic Republic smuggles weapons into the region through secret border tunnels or fast boats. The report highlights that Hamas has received weapons from Iran that have been smuggled through tunnels into the Gaza Strip, and Daniel Byman, a senior expert at the 'Transnational Threats Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies' (CSIS), stated that this smuggling often includes long-range systems. Charles Lister, a senior expert at the Middle East Institute in Washington, also told CNN that Iran sends its more advanced ballistic missiles to Hamas via the sea. Analysts and observers have stated that the Islamic Republic has also assisted in the production of necessary weapons, enabling Hamas to build its arsenals. Lister emphasized in an interview with CNN that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has been training Hamas engineers in weapon manufacturing for nearly two decades. Earlier, coinciding with the outbreak of war in Israel, the Wall Street Journal reported that according to senior members of Hamas and Hezbollah, Iranian security officials helped plan Hamas's surprise attack on Israel. According to this report, officers from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had been working with Hamas since August to design air, land, and sea assaults. They stated that the details of this operation were refined during multiple meetings in Beirut involving officers from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and representatives from four Iranian-backed militant groups, including Hamas, Hezbollah, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
