CNN: The U.S. Will Transfer Seized Weapons from the Islamic Republic to Ukraine

On Wednesday, October 4, U.S. officials announced that the United States will provide Ukraine with thousands of seized weapons and ammunition from the Islamic Republic. This comes as Ukrainian military forces are awaiting financial and military equipment assistance from the United States and its allies, and this action could help alleviate some of the shortages facing the Ukrainian army. According to CNN, U.S. officials stated that the U.S. Central Command, CENTCOM, is expected to announce this decision later this week. The Biden administration has been examining for months how to legally send seized weapons, which are stored at CENTCOM facilities across the Middle East, to Ukraine. The U.S. State Department previously stated on its Persian account on 'X' that the Iranian regime continues to lie to cover up its military relations with Russia and its support for Russia's unjustified and unfair war against Ukraine. The U.S., the U.K., the European Union, Australia, and New Zealand have repeatedly sanctioned the Islamic Republic for providing drones to Russia in the Ukraine war. The Financial Times reported in August of this year, citing an Iranian official and another informed source, that the U.S. is pressuring Iran to stop selling military drones that Russia uses in the Ukraine war. Iran has previously confirmed sending drones to Russia but stated that they were delivered before Russia's attack on Ukraine in February 2022. Moscow has denied the use of Iranian drones in Ukraine.
