CNN: Ukrainian Army is Breaking the 'Russian Front Line' in the Southern Front

CNN reports that Ukrainian forces are advancing and breaking through Russian defense lines along the southern front in the Zaporizhia region. According to the report, the Ukrainian army has extended its advance towards the 'strategic city' of Tokmak and has intensified attacks on Russian-occupied Crimea, with the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff also reporting successes near 'Novoprokopivka', advances in 'Ocheretuvate', and securing the village of Robotyne. The report adds that although Ukraine's gains have been hard-fought and on a small scale, prominent Russian military bloggers are expressing their 'concerns' about the situation of Russian forces. Several well-known Russian military bloggers are painting a 'dark picture' of the status of the 'Russian front lines' in parts of the 'southern front'. Russian bloggers also refer to Ukraine's advances in Robotyne and Novoprokopivka as 'important footholds', alongside heavy artillery exchanges. According to the report, the goal of the Ukrainian army is to reclaim territories occupied by Russia, but significant casualties are reported on both sides of the conflict. On one hand, the Russian Ministry of Defense claims that 110 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed and Western armored vehicles have been destroyed, while Ukrainian sources highlight the losses inflicted on the Russian army. On the other hand, the Russian-appointed governor in Zaporizhia points to Ukraine's advances without strong artillery support, which has led to damage to their attacking units. As the conflict continues with Ukrainian forces trying to break through Russian defensive lines along the southern front, Budanov, the head of Ukrainian defense intelligence, stated on Friday on Ukrainian television that 'the importance of this operation is for people to remember and believe that victory is not far away, even in occupied Crimea.'
