Commander of the 14th Army Corps of Russia Killed

Russia reports that Lieutenant General Vladimir Zavadsky, deputy commander of the 14th Army Corps, has been killed in Ukraine. According to Reuters, Alexander Gusev, the governor of the Voronezh region in Russia, stated on Monday, December 4, without providing further details, that Zavadsky was killed 'in a combat situation in the special operation area.' Russia uses the term 'special military operation' to describe the war in Ukraine, which has been ongoing for nearly two years. The investigative news agency 'iStories' reports that Zavadsky is the seventh lieutenant general whose death has been confirmed by Russia and the twelfth senior officer killed since the war began. As the war in Ukraine progresses, the number of high-ranking Russian officers killed has decreased. Military analysts have attributed some of their deaths to Ukraine's military successes in intercepting weak Russian communications. On the other hand, Shalanda Young, the White House budget director, warned on Monday in a letter to Mike Johnson, the Republican Speaker of the House, and other U.S. congressional leaders that funds and time for aiding Ukraine in its war with Russia are running out. The Biden administration requested about $106 billion from Congress in October to finance major plans for Ukraine, Israel, and U.S. border security. Republicans control the House of Representatives by a slim majority, and funding for Ukraine's defense has become politically contentious for some right-wing lawmakers. Kyiv accused Russia of firing on unarmed Ukrainian soldiers. Zelensky stated that the war in Gaza could lead to global indifference towards Ukraine.
