Commander of the Navy of the Revolutionary Guard: If enemies make a mistake, we will turn the Persian Gulf into a quagmire for them

Alireza Tangsiri, the commander of the Navy of the Revolutionary Guard, threatened Iran's 'enemies' on Friday, January 21, stating: 'If the enemies make erroneous calculations in the Persian Gulf, we will turn the Persian Gulf into a quagmire for them.' In an interview with the state news agency IRNA, he referenced the infamous 'Bay of Pigs' incident in the U.S., asserting: 'Certainly, the enemies will not make wrong calculations, and if they do make a mistake, they will receive a strong slap from us, and we will repeat the Bay of Pigs incident for them, turning the Persian Gulf into a quagmire where they will drown in their own blood.' He also described the presence of 'foreigners' in the Persian Gulf as a 'bad message for the Muslim nations around the Gulf.' According to this senior commander of the Revolutionary Guard, 'Some enemy vessels, due to their nuclear fuel, can create an environmental disaster in the Persian Gulf.' Tangsiri elaborated: 'The Persian Gulf has an area of 250,000 square kilometers and is a closed gulf, and they do not appear in their own countries that have closed gulfs because nuclear fuel creates environmental problems for them.' In late December of this year, the entry of the U.S. aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis into the Persian Gulf coincided with a Revolutionary Guard exercise in the region. Although Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, the deputy coordinator of the Iranian Army, deemed this event 'insignificant,' he emphasized that 'we are ready to defend at any moment.' According to this senior commander of the Revolutionary Guard, 'Our enemies in the Persian Gulf know us better than we know ourselves, they analyze our thoughts and have insight, and they are also aware of the bravery of our forces.' Alireza Tangsiri reiterated that 'foreigners disrupt the security of the Persian Gulf' and emphasized Iran's readiness to establish security in the region. He warned that 'enemies should know that they cannot have a permanent presence in this region because they are pursuing their own interests and have repeatedly stated that they want to milk weak Muslim nations and will leave once they have drained the region.' This remark by General Tangsiri refers to Donald Trump's statement during the 2016 presidential campaign, where he referred to Saudi Arabia as America's 'cash cow.' This description by Trump has been used multiple times by Iranian officials, including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, to humiliate the country.
