Compilation of the Encyclopedia of Persian Stories in Iran - 2003-08-27

According to today's Shargh newspaper (published in Tehran), Dr. Mohammad Gholam and Dr. Hassan Zolghadri have compiled the 'Encyclopedia of Persian Stories.' This encyclopedia aims to introduce, summarize, and report on all Persian stories from the time of the arrival of Islam in Iran until the year 1380 in the Iranian calendar. Shargh writes: 'The framework of this project includes written works published in Iran and abroad, categorized under three main titles: (Ancient Narrative Works), (Modern Narrative Works), and (Manuscripts of Narrative Works). All entries are organized alphabetically, without time constraints.' The newspaper adds: 'In each entry, after introducing the work, topics such as theme, content, summary of the plot, characters, and contextual information are provided to the reader. Additionally, various appendices such as lists of narrative indexes, individuals and topics, geographical names, and anthropological information are included to assist readers in accessing information in the Encyclopedia of Persian Stories.' Shargh concludes: 'The executors and authors of this work, Dr. Mohammad Gholam and Dr. Hassan Zolghadri, have continuously benefited from the advice and suggestions of the members of the scientific council and advisory board of the encyclopedia, which includes Dr. Taghi Pournamdarian, Dr. Ali Mohammad Haqshenas, Dr. Mohammad Dehghani, Dr. Habibollah Abbasi, and Dr. Mohammad Fattouhi. Furthermore, 20 entry writers and editors from university faculty members and other academic researchers have completed the writing of the entries.'
