Complete Ignorance About the Location of Ehsan Mazandarani, Imprisoned Journalist

Ehsan Mazandarani's wife has reported that he has been transferred to an 'unknown location' in recent days. Despite staff from Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court stating that this imprisoned journalist has been moved to Ward 2-A of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, prison officials have claimed that he is not in that ward. According to the website Khabar Online, close to Mir Hossein Mousavi, Malihe Hosseini, Ehsan Mazandarani's wife, reported 'complete ignorance' about her husband in recent days after his transfer from Ward 8 of Evin Prison to an 'unknown location.' Previously, she had stated that when she visited Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court, she was told that by order of Judge Mohammad Mogheiseh, Ehsan Mazandarani was transferred to Ward 2-A of Evin Prison, which is under the control of the IRGC, but upon returning to the prison, she was informed that her husband was not in Ward 2-A. Malihe Hosseini also wrote on her Instagram page on Friday, May 31, that Ehsan Mazandarani had written a 'will' before his transfer from Ward 8 of Evin Prison and had sent it to her. The website Saham News reported on the morning of Tuesday, May 28, that Ehsan Mazandarani was transferred from Ward 8 of Evin Prison to Ward 2-A by order of Judge Mohammad Mogheiseh, head of Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court. Ehsan Mazandarani, Afrin Chitsaz, and Ehsan Safarzadeh were sentenced to a total of 22 years in prison after their arrest last November. The trial of Eisa Saharkhiz, another imprisoned journalist who was arrested alongside these journalists, has not yet been held. Davood Asadi, who was also arrested with these journalists and sentenced to five years in prison, has been declared by his brother, Houshang Asadi, and his family to not be a journalist and to have no connection or activity related to the media. Several news websites in Iran, including the 'Jahan News' website affiliated with Alireza Zakani, a member of parliament, reported that Mansoureh Hosseini, a 'former' presenter of the 'Manoto' television network, was arrested in recent weeks. Some websites also reported on Tuesday, May 28, that Ms. Hosseini was released on bail, but her family and the 'Manoto' network did not respond to these reports. Additionally, according to reports, Mehdi Botarabi, the head of the Persian Blog group, was arrested on Monday, May 27. Despite numerous reports about the arrest and imprisonment of journalists, Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi, the Tehran prosecutor, claimed on Tuesday, May 27, that 'we have the highest security for journalists in the country' and that the crimes of journalists who are detained in Iran are 'related to the internal and external security of the country.' According to the report from Reporters Without Borders, Iran, with '34 imprisoned journalists and citizen journalists,' is one of the five largest prisons in the world for media activists. China, Egypt, Turkey, and Eritrea are other countries that have the highest number of journalists in their prisons.
