Conference on 'The Future of Women and Minorities in the Woman, Life, Freedom Revolution' Held in Brussels

The conference titled 'The Future of Women and Minorities in the Woman, Life, Freedom Revolution' was held on Wednesday, April 26, coinciding with Ordibehesht 6, with the participation of representatives from Iran's ethnic and religious minorities, including Arabs, Kurds, Baluchis, Turks, and Baha'is in Brussels. In this gathering, which took place in one of the European Union buildings, attendees examined various aspects of the status of women and minorities today and in the future following the victory of the 'Woman, Life, Freedom Revolution.' According to Voice of America from Brussels, the organizers aimed to 'bring the message of the violation of the rights of ethnicities, especially women in Iran under the Islamic Republic's rule, to the attention of European officials.' Another demand from the participants was to 'list the IRGC as a terrorist organization.' Timur Elyasi, a Kurdish rights activist and one of the organizers, told Voice of America that 'one of the demands raised by Iranian activists at the meeting was the expulsion of the Islamic Republic from international organizations.' Shima Silavi, a human rights activist, also stated that the goal of the activists present at this meeting was to amplify the voices of minorities and marginalized people by the Islamic Republic. Fariba Baluch, a women's rights activist, mentioned that she attended the meeting to be the voice of Baluchi citizens and women, who have always faced oppression and discrimination under the Islamic Republic. She also held the IRGC responsible for the killings of protesters, especially during the 'Bloody Friday of Zahedan,' adding that one of the demands of the Iranian activists present at this meeting was for the EU to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization. Fakhteh Zamani, head of the Association for the Defense of Political Prisoners of Azerbaijanis in Iran, also told Voice of America that the attendees brought the voice of the Iranian people to the European Parliament.
