Confirmation of the 'Seizure Order' for Narges Mansouri's Mother's House; Mohammad Moqimi, Lawyer: In this 'Regime,' Oppression Has No End

An Islamic Republic court confirmed the seizure order for the residential house of Narges Mansouri's mother while this political activist remains imprisoned. This comes as Mansouri has been on a hunger strike for 31 days in protest of this action. Mohammad Moqimi, a lawyer, on Wednesday, February 4, published the final ruling of Branch 1060 of the Criminal Court 2 of the Government Employees Judicial Complex, calling the order 'illegal' and emphasizing that while Narges Mansouri is in prison, 'the seizure of collateral has no legal basis.' This lawyer also stated, 'It seems that in this regime, oppression has no end, and the only thing that has no place is the rule of law.' This political prisoner, who is on the 31st day of her hunger strike, experienced 'stomach bleeding' on Sunday, February 1, and was transferred from Evin Prison to the Pars Hospital for the second time. Narges Mansouri, who is one of the signatories of the letter known as 'Statement 14' calling for a transition from the Islamic Republic and the resignation of Ali Khamenei, has been on hunger strike in protest against the 'seizure of her mother's house.' She previously announced in a message from prison that 'from now on, the responsibility for preserving my life lies with Khamenei.' The order to auction Narges Mansouri's mother's house, which was deposited as collateral with the judiciary, was issued while this political and labor activist is currently in prison. According to the court ruling, 'Branch 1060 of the Criminal Court 2 of the Government Employees Judicial Complex' stated regarding 'the objection of the collateral provider to the order of seizing the collateral' by the head of the public and revolutionary prosecutor's office of Evin, that 'the issued ruling is final.' The continuation of Narges Mansouri's hunger strike comes as Mohammad Moqimi had previously told Voice of America that Narges Mansouri is 'suspected of having cancer' and warned of the danger to her life. The pressures of the Islamic Republic on the families of political prisoners and activists have a history. Earlier, Pouran Nazemi, a civil activist, told Voice of America that the Islamic Republic puts pressure on them and their families by cutting off the 'economic lifeline of activists.'
