Conflicting Reports on Five Arrested Student Girls

Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the arrest of five female students living in the Fatemieh dormitory at Tehran University. While Iranian media reported that the five students were arrested by the police at 1:45 AM on June 13 due to their potential connection to recent events, some newspapers stated that they had been released and returned to their dormitory. However, Brigadier General Taghizadeh, head of Tehran's police intelligence department, indicated that two of the arrested women are still in police custody, while the status of the other three remains unknown. He refrained from disclosing the names of the two. The newspaper Etemad also reported that despite claims of their release by Brigadier General Talayi, there is still no information on the status of one of the girls. It is noteworthy that following nighttime raids on some dormitories, female students are now sleeping in their mantos and headscarves. It has been reported that the family of a female student who went missing during the events of July 9, 1999, has still not been able to obtain any information about her fate.
